SM 1001-3FR utilizes a novel hybrid chemistry producing a polymer with physical properties similar to both silicone and polyurethane. The system offers exceptional adhesion to metal and bonds to most substrates without need for primer. The fully cured SM 1001-3FR polymer is self-extinguishing and will meet the UL94 V-0 flammability standard at 0.250 inches (6.35mm). Heat resistant, the cured system can withstand temperatures up to 150°C (302°F) and excursion as high as 176°C (~350°F) without losing elastomeric properties. Additionally, SM 1001-3FR exhibits some thermal conductivity to help dissipate heat away from embedded electronic components. SM 1001FR-X3 is an ideal candidate in applications for sealing electronic components, or where silicone and polyurethanes are used. The system offers greater heat resistance than most urethanes. And it offers better adhesion and physical properties than silicone without the cure-inhibition and migration issues common to silicone systems. In addition, this material will resist thermal cycling and is impact resistant. SM 1001FR-X3 can also be used in general applications where good adhesion and toughness are needed in combination with flame retardancy.
